At age 16, Grant’s family attempted an intervention to get Grant into recovery. Instead, he moved out and his life took a severe turn to the dark side, taking girlfriend T. L. along for the ride. As he attempted to survive on his own, Grant turned to more serious crimes, buying illegal weapons and kidnapping to maintain his wild lifestyle. Minor brushes with the law made Grant believe that he could get away with anything. He was not only invincible, but immortal as well.
Surviving into his 20s, Grant was tired, lonely and empty. Eager to add more meaning to his life, he agreed to learn more about the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC) at the suggestion of his parents. Taking one day at a time, Grant reluctantly joined the program, along with T. L.
The Demon & The Monk is their story and serves as both a warning to parents and a lesson to kids that a life of crime and drugs is not as glamorous as it appears.While the book contains its share of misspellings and grammatical errors, its deficiencies are easily ignored in this amazing story of pain, weakness, strength and determination.
